Meetings
From 24-26 April cultural organizers from around the world convened in beautiful Paris for the annual JMI Meeting of Committees and Working Groups, hosted by Jeunesses Musicales de France.
What are JMI Committees and Working Groups? They are small teams made up of people from different JMI member organizations around the world. Each Committee or Working Group has between 5-10 members, who share a common interest, and work together on special international projects. With most Committee and Working Group meetings held in the virtual office, it was an exciting event to see everyone speaking face to face!
Directeur Général
Vincent Niqueux of Jeunesses Musicales de France welcomed the international delegates to Paris saying, “… you are coming from 19 different countries, and we are over 40 members in this meeting. Your presence is mainly the expression of the vitality of JMI. In each of our countries, we experiment many various ways of promoting music. I’m a new comer in the JMF, and I don’t know yet all these actions, but I think it’s very important to share these experiences in order to know better our different approaches and to build a collective vision. I am convinced this will be a good opportunity to develop our common project for the JMI, for the sake of music and of course of the youth”.
Blasko Smilevski, JMI Secretary General noted “this type of gathering is what JMI is about… creating opportunities for international collaboration, exchange of ideas and cooperation across borders - for cultural professionals as well as for musicians”.
