Spring arrives in Belgrade and for the 39th time it is accompanied by young and talented people from the music world; this year, pianists. The chance to present their talents and artistic skills as well as meet other individuals with similar musical goals prompted many pianists from the world over to apply for this year’s International Jeunesses Musicales competition which took take place from March 21-23 in the Kolarac Hall.
The IJMC received over 100 applications and the Selection Commission invited 80 candidates to participate. 41 competitors presented themselves to the Belgrade audience and to our highly respected jury: Michel Dalberto (France), Atanas Kurtev (Bulgaria), Brenno Ambrosini (Italy), Joaquin Soriano (Spain), Nevena Popovic (Serbia), Dubravka Jovicic (Serbia) and Isidora Zebeljan (Serbia, composer of the obligatory piece “Il circo”). Competitiors came from Korea (14), Russia (4), Canada (1), Ukraine (1), Belorussia (1), Japan (1), Israel (1) and Serbia (18).
The winners of the competition are:
I prize – not awarded
II prize – Kim Dong-Kyu (Korea)
III prize – Görög Enikő (Serbia)
The official prizes were awarded by Mr.Nebojsa Bradic, Minister of culture.
